College Toolkit for Preventing Suicide

Experts estimate that over 1,000 suicides occur on college campuses each year, and suicide is the leading cause of death for college-aged individuals in South Dakota. College students face many risk factors, including behavioral health conditions (especially depression), stress, struggling with transitioning to the college environment, academic or social pressures, feelings of failure or alienation and a lack of adequate coping skills.
