Conference Overview

The Department of Social Services, Division of Behavioral Health, in partnership with other state agencies, is excited to host the Start the Conversation: Suicide Prevention Conference.

This conference is an opportunity for individuals to come together to “Start the Conversation” to prevent suicide in South Dakota by reducing stigma and providing tools and resources. It features key speakers in the areas of veterans, youth, tribal communities, resiliency, and the general population as well as those with lived experience of suicide loss or survival. There is also an opportunity to get trained in suicide prevention trainings, such as Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR), Means Safety and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). CEUs will be available.

This conference is offered at no-cost due to grant funding. Funding for this conference was made possible (in part) by SAMHSA through award SM083387 and award SM0839848.
