South Dakota Suicide Prevention Plan

SUICIDE IS A WORD THAT BREAKS YOUR HEART EVERY TIME YOU HEAR IT

Over the past decade, South Dakota’s suicide rates rose by nearly forty percent. The Departments of Health, Social Services, Tribal Relations, Education, and Agriculture in partnership with the Great Plains Tribal Chairmen’s Health Board have developed a comprehensive plan to prevent suicide in South Dakota. The plan focuses on helping people across the state recognize the signs and symptoms of suicide, empowering communities with data and resources, and raising public awareness of the issue.
